Product detailed description
The Temagari Nokogiri is a Japanese crosscut hand saw designed for fast, aggressive work on heavy timber. Its 0.8 mm thin blade carries 69 large, razor sharp teeth that slice quickly through beams, boards and even tree limbs. With a 390 mm blade length and coarse 4.5 TPI tooth pattern, this timber framing saw delivers powerful cutting performance while still offering the control and accuracy that Japanese pull saws are known for. The Temagari from TEMPLE TOOL blends Western and Japanese craftsmanship to create a premium tool with both beautiful styling and outstanding cutting results.
Tooth spacing increases from the heel to the tip of the blade to make starting the cut easier and more controlled
Durable Japanese steel
The blade is made from high quality Japanese steel that holds a long lasting edge. This means you can work longer between sharpenings and still enjoy clean, accurate cuts. The steel is suitable for both softwood and hardwood, so the saw can handle everything from framing lumber to denser structural timbers.
Made in Japan
Each saw is handcrafted in a historic Japanese city by skilled artisans with more than 100 years of hand saw making tradition. This method of production reflects a heritage of honest craftsmanship, history and quality. Japanese saws made in this way are renowned worldwide for their precision, incredibly sharp teeth and dependable performance in demanding workshop and job site conditions.
Premium components
The saw features a dark brown solid wood handle made from Wingnut, a member of the walnut family, which provides a comfortable and secure grip. Brass components add strength and a refined visual contrast. The high carbon steel blade, combined with the stylish dark wooden handle and brass Western style accents, creates a tool that is not only functional but also visually distinctive in any workshop.
Nokogiri 鋸
Nokogiri are specialist Japanese saws used across Southeast Asia and beyond. Unlike European saws, they are designed primarily to cut on the pull stroke rather than by pushing away from you. Pull cutting offers excellent accuracy and requires less effort from the craftsman during hand work. Because the blade is tensioned on the pull stroke, a Japanese saw blade does not buckle as easily, so it is much easier to guide a perfectly straight cut even with a relatively thin and flexible blade.

The Temagari is a robust timber framing saw created for rough cutting of beams and boards. When you are building a wooden garden gazebo, pergola or raised beds, you will appreciate how quickly it slices through large timber sections and helps you move through big projects efficiently. Why choose a pull saw
Unlike European saws, Japanese saws are designed to cut on the pull stroke. This cutting action requires less effort, reduces the risk of the blade binding and allows you to achieve an accurate, clean and precise cut. The iconic narrow, flexible blade of Japanese saws does not twist when pulled, so your cut stays straight even in deep or long cuts. The tall blade profile and typically high tooth count make Japanese saws ideal not only for fine detail work but also for controlled cutting in structural timber.
