templetool

The TEMPLE TOOL Dozuki Kumiko D-180-C is a Japanese hand saw designed for ultra fine crosscutting when you need clean, precise joints and perfectly fitting details. A 0.2 mm thin blade with a total of 210 razor sharp teeth delivers extremely accurate cuts with minimal kerf, so you remove less material and keep more control over your workpiece. It is a carpentry saw built for fast, deep cuts in beams, boards and planks while still leaving a smooth surface that needs little to no cleanup.

The blade length is 180 mm with a tooth count of 30 TPI, which provides a very fine cut suitable for detailed joinery and Kumiko work. Durable Japanese steel

The blade is made from high quality Japanese steel, so it holds a keen edge for a long time and provides clean, precise cuts in both softwood and hardwood. This durability means fewer blade changes and consistent results, even on intricate work where accuracy is critical.

Made in Japan

Each saw is handcrafted in a historic Japanese town by experienced artisans with more than 100 years of hand saw making tradition. Saws produced this way reflect a legacy of honest craftsmanship, heritage and quality. They are renowned worldwide for their perfection, extremely sharp teeth and reliability in professional workshop use.

Premium components

The saw features a dark brown solid wood handle made from Wingnut, a member of the walnut family. This handle provides a comfortable, secure grip and a warm feel in the hand. Brass hardware adds stability and a refined appearance. The high carbon steel blade is paired with the stylish dark wooden handle and brass Western style accents to create a tool that performs at a high level and looks at home in a premium workshop.

Nokogiri 鋸

Nokogiri are specialized Japanese saws used throughout Southeast Asia. Unlike European saws, they are designed primarily to cut on the pull stroke rather than on the push stroke. This cutting method provides very high accuracy and reduces fatigue when working by hand. Because the blade of a Japanese pull saw is under tension when cutting, it does not buckle, so it is easy to guide the saw in a straight, controlled cut, even with a very thin blade.

Dozuki

Dozuki is a Japanese saw type with an extremely thin blade and very fine teeth for ultra accurate, precise cuts in wood. The rigid back supports the blade and allows such a thin plate to cut straight. This makes it ideal for cutting dovetails, tenons and other fine joinery where a tight, clean fit is essential.

Saw designed for Kumiko work

Kumiko 組子 is a traditional Japanese woodworking technique that uses small wooden strips or pieces assembled into complex geometric patterns without nails or screws and, in the traditional approach, even without glue. It is similar in spirit to European marquetry and inlay work. Because Kumiko requires perfectly fitting elements and very clean, ultra thin cuts, a fine Dozuki saw like this one is especially well suited to the task.

Why choose a pull saw

Unlike European saws, Japanese saws are engineered to cut on the pull stroke. This cutting action requires less effort and helps you make accurate, clean and highly precise cuts with greater control. The iconic thin and flexible blade of a Japanese saw stays under tension during the pull stroke, so it does not twist and your cut remains straight. Most Japanese hand saws have a deeper blade and a very high tooth count, which results in a smooth surface and fine finish. This makes them an ideal tool not only for dialing in the fine details on your projects, but also for everyday accurate cutting tasks.
