Durable Japanese steel

The blade is made from high quality Japanese steel that holds a sharp edge for a long time. This means less frequent blade changes and consistently smooth, clean cuts in both soft and hard wood, which helps you achieve precise joints and professional looking surfaces.

Made in Japan

Each blade is handcrafted in a historic Japanese town by experienced artisans with more than 100 years of hand saw making tradition. This method of production reflects a heritage of honest craftsmanship, history and quality. The blades are renowned worldwide for their precision and extremely sharp teeth, which let you work efficiently and with great accuracy.

Premium components

The system features a dark brown solid wood handle made from Wingnut, a walnut species, complemented by brass fittings. The high carbon steel blade together with the elegant dark wooden handle and brass accents creates a modern, Western inspired look, while still delivering traditional Japanese cutting performance.

Nokogiri 鋸

Nokogiri are traditional Japanese saws widely used throughout Southeast Asia. Unlike European saws, they are designed to cut on the pull stroke instead of pushing away from you. This pull action gives you very high cutting precision and reduces physical effort during hand work. Because the blade cuts on the pull stroke, the teeth are not subjected to buckling, which makes it easier to guide the saw in a straight line.

Ryoba

A Ryoba is a double sided saw with two cutting edges. Yokobiki is used for crosscutting across the grain and tatebiki for rip cutting parallel to the grain. This makes it an ideal tool for carpentry and joinery work, where you often need both types of cuts with one versatile saw.

Why choose a pull saw

Japanese saws, unlike European ones, are engineered to cut on the pull stroke. This cutting motion requires less effort and lets you achieve accurate, clean and precise cuts even during longer work sessions. The narrow and flexible Japanese blade does not twist when pulled, so the cut remains perfectly straight and easy to control. Most Japanese hand saws have a deeper blade profile and a high tooth density, which makes them ideal tools not only for fine tuning details, but also for general accurate cutting in your projects.
